It’s Time We Tell The Truth: An Open Letter To Christopher Cukor
The now infamous video opens with you standing in a door way with your phone up to your ear calling the police on a black man who was waiting for his disabled friend to show up. Your child, literally attached to your hip, is begging you to stop.
My heart broke when I heard your son’s pleas, but in a way, I felt proud that he knew enough about your actions at his tender age to know that what you were doing was wrong.
When the media shed some light on the fact that your father had been killed doing the exact same thing in 2012, I felt bad for a moment until I thought, “What would I do in that same situation?” If you were afraid for your life and the life of your child, you would have never stood just feet away from him, confronting him in probably the same manner in which caused your father to tragically lose his life.
So, that tells me a few things about you. You simply were not afraid of Mr. Michel. You had no fear about him whatsoever. It told me it was the “principle of the thing”. You were tired of this happening over and over again, in your mind, and that you were going to be the guy to stop it. You were putting your foot down.
