Are You A Covid-19 Long Hauler? Read This
By The Mad Chronically Ill Girl Podcast
Hi, My name is Sonya or otherwise known in internet circles as “The Mad Chronically Ill Girl”. It’s a heckuva title. We’ll get into that later.
First, let me be the first to say that I’m sorry you have the dubious title of “Long Hauler”. It basically means that you were infected with COVID-19, and are experiencing one or more symptoms from the infection many days or even months later.
Because this is a novel coronavirus, there is no way of knowing how long you must suffer from this symptoms. For that, you have my deepest sympathy. But before you feel down, there is help out there. There is support. With that, I’d like to officially welcome you into the Spoonie Delegation.
What is a spoonie? I’m glad you asked. Christine Miserandino has a lovely story that she created after being diagnosed with lupus (the autoimmune disease that I suffer from as well as a host of others) after trying to explain to a friend how tired she is and why she can’t be as active as she used to be by using spoons.
I highly recommend you read her short story so that you’ll get an understanding of what that term means. You’ll hear it a lot now.
Welcome spoonies.
